Professional organizer Monica Avila is BA Organization's founder and owner. Learn more about her personal background, her goals for her metro Atlanta-based business, and her own philosophy toward home organization and harmonious living.

Tell us a little bit about yourself and your personal background.

Monica: I am married to an amazing human being, and we have three beautiful kids together. They have been my biggest teachers in life. When I became a mother, I was faced with a choice so many parents must make-----whether to work or stay home. This is such an individual decision with no right or wrong path. But I personally felt the calling to stay home and take care of our little ones for their first precious and formative years. The chaos of motherhood suddenly hit, and I just couldn't place how a 9-5 job would fit into our family dynamic and routine. Being an involved parent has always been so important to me---and honestly, with three kids, I just didn't know how to find myself again. Launching this business has given me confidence that I can pursue my own goals while still balancing my responsibilities as a mother. In fact, creating balance and harmony lies at the heart of what I do. Being able to help other families achieve peace through organization has given me joy in a new and different way I didn't think possible.

How did you get the idea for BA Organization? What are your main goals for the service?

Monica: My husband and I have grown in the spirit of entrepreneurship over the course of our marriage and own two other companies, BA Kitchen & Bath Design and BA Stone Surfaces. But BA Organization is very much a reflection of my personal passion for home organizing. My husband has always complimented me on how organized I keep the house. He, along with my sister Carmen, have been my number one supporters. They've encouraged me along the way, providing positive reinforcement that my talent and passion for organizing could be channeled into something productive beyond my own home and shared with others. That's the spark that started BA Organization. I started polishing my organizing skills and educating myself on different methods and techniques. I also loved learning about the mental order behind it-----how there's this accumulation of energy each thing has and how that energy, in turn, affects the human mind. My main goal for the service is to create spaces that inspire peace and productivity in my clients' lives.

How do your organizing practices affect your own home life and routine?

Monica: Organization keeps our family life centered when it's constantly being pulled in different directions. Implementing these organization systems in our home helps soothe the outside chaos so we can operate internally from a place of calm and efficiency. Over the years, I've seen my own children grow and adapt because of the systems I've created for them. It may seem like something small, but seeing them easily and naturally put things back in their place fills my heart with joy. Organizing creates a sense of harmony in our home. There is less time spent cleaning up the messes and meltdowns us moms know so well and more time spent making memories together as a family. When a home is in balance, everyone feels it.

What can a new client expect from their first organizing consult?

Monica: Each project offers its own unique challenges, but the purpose of a first consult is always the same-----to establish a relationship with our clients, understand their goals, and strategize the best way to meet those goals. A new client can expect an evaluation of their space along with some personal questions about their family's needs and routines. Remember that we are judgement-free and here to help you regain control of your space. It's not just about organizing your things but your time, your mind, and your own sense of peace. Remember, you are worthy of experiencing an organized, chaos-free home. It's okay if you haven't been able to do it on your own. That's why our professional organizers are here-----to help!

What are some projects you are proud of? How do you measure success?

Monica: My home will, of course, always be a special project dear to my heart. (I'll share details about that process in a future post.) Some recent feedback I received from a client was how they waste less food and save more money due to the organization systems we've implemented for them. They can now easily eyeball when they are running out of a specific product. For me, success means having the freedom and agency to be truly present in those small moments of life-----and to impact family, friends, and clients in meaningful, positive, lasting ways.

What's your advice for someone feeling overwhelmed about starting the home organization process?

Monica: If you need help but don't have the time or know where to start, let our professional home organizers take over and do the hard work. Whether you need a one-time consult and overhaul to clear out the clutter, or you're interested in more ongoing maintenance services, we can create easy-to-follow systems tailored to your own needs, goals, and lifestyle. Our core value at BA Organization is this: to create a harmonious living space that brings peace and productivity into your life!
